Racing2Learn is an eLearning platform that provides a wealth of educational eLearning courses and resources to support the career development, equine knowledge and personal and employment skills of those working in the horseracing and wider equine industry.

Easy to navigate, each course has been carefully created with input from subject specialists to provide short, interactive and informative learning experiences. Typically courses take 30 – 90 minutes to complete.

Completion Certificate

Every course has learning content, normally with interactive activities, followed by a short assessment.  The assessment typically comprises multiple choice or true/false questions.  A pass mark is set for each course. Once these two elements have been completed and the pass mark achieved, a certificate will be issued.

Achievement Tracking

Each certificate will be recorded and retained on the user’s account.  Each course has been allocated a set number of racing industry recognised Continuous Professional Development (CPD) points which are displayed on the certificates.

Course Content

Each subject area contains a range of courses that will aid career or personal development and may be required as a licence to practice certain roles within the sector.

Key subject areas are:

Horse Care, Equine Wellbeing and Veterinary

• This tile contains an extensive range of courses to support practical horsemanship skills, from entry Level 1 to senior Level 3. Veterinary subjects include equine emergency first aid, physiology and anatomy.  Specialist horse welfare courses are also contained in this section.

Coaching, Riding Racehorses and Jockeys

• The courses in this tile focus on developing the coaching skills of rider and jockey coaches, sharing good practice and understanding the equine athlete.  Jockeys are supported in their development through eLearning courses advising on nutrition, fitness, walking the course and tactical race riding skills.

People Wellbeing, Safety and Development

• Career progression does not just depend on horsemanship skills. Wider personal and life skills such as understanding finances, living safely and managing health and welfare are key to success and covered in this subject area.

Governance, Policies and Structure of the Industry

• eLearning courses in this tile include understanding the complexities of the racing industry and the various organisations and charities that support it.  There are also specific bespoke courses for racing personnel and officials.

Raceday Operations, Regulation and Integrity

• eLearning courses in this tile include the importance of integrity in British horseracing, including what goes into making it a safe and clean sport and the roles of the Raceday Officials.

Safeguarding, Diversity and Inclusion and Medical

• The eLearning courses in this tile provide essential education for everyone working in the racing and wider equine industry. An improved understanding of safeguarding, diversity and inclusion will ensure safety and promote the sport. Concussion awareness education is vital to protect those who may suffer injuries at work, particularly when riding horses.

Racehorse Trainers and Employment Matters

• The eLearning courses in this tile provide guidance for employees on matters relating to employment and pay. The NARS Racing Secretaries eLearning course provides an insight into the role and responsibilities of a racing secretary. The inclusive recruitment toolkit provides a suite of editable documents and templates for employers to adapt and use within their business.  There is essential education for Trainers and their representatives regarding BHA rules and regulations surrounding starting procedures.

Accessibility

The Recite Me toolbar on Racing2Learn enables users to customise the course content to make it more accessible for their needs.  This includes screen reader functionality, styling and adaptation, reading aids and translation into over 100 languages.

All courses have a voice over, if the spoken word is preferred over the written word.
